On Saturday, 11 October 2014, at night at 4:03, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Skuodas national road (kilometre 5.73), a MTZ Belarus-820 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the MTZ, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
