On Tuesday, 14 October 2014, at night at 23:40, in Telšių district municipality, Rainių village, on Mastupio street near No. 2, an Audi 80 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.48‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
