On Friday, 21 November 2014, in the evening at 20:35, in Druskininkų municipality, on the Druskininkai–Liškiava–Panara–Janionys regional road (kilometre 2.37), a Volkswagen Multivan hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 51-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 51-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). The driver was sober. The 38-year-old driver of the Volkswagen had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
