On Saturday, 6 December 2014, in the morning at 9:35, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 26.44), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Renault Laguna, a Neoplan N 316 and a Seat Toledo. Four people were injured — the 37-year-old driver of the Renault (hospitalized), the 19-year-old driver of the Seat (hospitalized), a 37-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized) and a 18-year-old passenger of the Seat (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Renault (17 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules and failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident there was freezing rain, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
