On Monday, 8 December 2014, in the morning at 8:09, in Molėtų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 75.35), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. Three people were injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 22-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 24-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volvo (5 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
