On Monday, 22 December 2014, in the afternoon at 14:22, in Zarasų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 166.50), a BMW 523i E39 registered in Latvia rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the BMW (a citizen of Latvia) (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
