On Wednesday, 31 December 2014, at night at 0:15, in Biržų district municipality, on Respublikos street near No. 2C, a BMW 520 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was a blizzard, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
