On Saturday, 3 January 2015, at night at 2:02, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Užventis–Tryškiai–Viekšniai national road (kilometre 5.75), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a BMW 318d. Four people were injured — the 25-year-old driver of the Audi (hospitalized), the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), a 43-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.48‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
