On Monday, 12 January 2015, at night at 23:33, in Anykščių district municipality, Pienionių village, on the Kavarskas–Traupis–Levaniškiai regional road (kilometre 6.20), a Volkswagen Caravelle ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. He was drunk (1.31‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
