On Sunday, 22 February 2015, at night at 23:51, in Šiaulių district municipality, Šakynos town, on Kalnelio street, at the junction with Šiaulių street, an Audi A4 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Audi (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.89‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
