On Wednesday, 4 March 2015, in the evening at 22:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 109), an Iveco Daily 35C15 registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Iveco (a citizen of Latvia) (21 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
