On Friday, 27 March 2015, in the evening at around 19:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Piktaičių village, on the Verdainė–Pašyšiai regional road (kilometre 8), a vehicle ran off the road. One person was injured — a 14-year-old passenger of a vehicle (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of a vehicle, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
