On Wednesday, 8 July 2015, in the evening at around 17:00, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 14.13), at a railway crossing, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a Volkswagen Multivan. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.08‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
