On Friday, 17 July 2015, in the evening at 18:17, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 24.10), a Ford Mondeo registered in Estonia hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Ford (21 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober.
