On Monday, 20 July 2015, in the evening at 18:50, in Kauno city municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 4.92), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 730, a Nissan Qashqai, a Citroen C8 and a Volkswagen Passat. Three people were injured — a 29-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), a 32-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and the 50-year-old driver of the Citroen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the BMW (12 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.67‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
