On Thursday, 2 July 2015, in the evening at 20:30, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 18), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 38-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 8-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Audi (13 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.02‰ blood alcohol). A 45-year-old passenger of the Audi was drunk (2.22‰). The 38-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was drunk. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
