On Sunday, 23 August 2015, at night at 23:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 89.70), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5 3.0D and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (2.47‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
