On Monday, 31 August 2015, at night at 4:06, in Telšių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 67.18), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Caravelle registered in Norway and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.64‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
