On Friday, 11 December 2015, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Girsteikių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 223), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH12 registered in Poland, a Lamberet LVFS3F registered in Poland and a Volvo FH registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Volvo FH12 (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
