On Friday, 11 December 2015, in the evening at 18:51, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 37.85), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 Avant and a Mitsubishi Colt. Two people were injured — a 22-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient) and the 50-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Audi (20 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.08‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
