On Sunday, 13 December 2015, in the evening at 22:15, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Antakalnis–Jieznas–Alytus–Merkinė national road (kilometre 40), a Land Rover Range Rover Sport hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Land Rover (19 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. She fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
