On Wednesday, 23 December 2015, in the afternoon at 13:45, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 18), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz Actros registered in Latvia and a BMW X5 3.0D. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (24 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
