On Sunday, 27 December 2015, in the afternoon at around 12:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 23), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Renault Trafic registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.96‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
