On Thursday, 14 January 2016, in the morning at 6:53, in Šakių district municipality, Naidynės village, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 39.78), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a MAN TGS, a Renault Premium 410.26, a Sommer ZP18 and a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the MAN (26 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
