On Tuesday, 19 January 2016, at night at around 23:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 30.60), in a roadworks zone, a Volvo hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Volvo (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
