On Sunday, 7 February 2016, in the evening at 19:45, in Skuodo district municipality, on the Kretinga–Skuodas national road (kilometre 40.99), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 406 and an Audi A6 Avant. Six people were injured — the 27-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient), a 53-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), the 23-year-old driver of the Audi (hospitalized), a 53-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 0-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and a 21-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Peugeot (8 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
