On Monday, 7 March 2016, in the morning at 10:55, in Ignalinos district municipality, on the Vilnius-Švenčionys-Zarasai national road (kilometre 98.20), an Audi 100 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.64‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 23-year-old passenger of the Audi was drunk (1.55‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
