On Tuesday, 15 March 2016, in the afternoon at 15:45, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 32.80), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Caravelle and a Fiat Ducato. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (19 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober.
