On Sunday, 24 April 2016, in the afternoon at 16:47, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 25.20), a BMW X3 ran off the road. One person was injured — the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of a Peugeot 406 (38 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
