On Saturday, 21 May 2016, in the evening at 20:30, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 97.30), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Honda Civic and a BMW 530. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Honda, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.34‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
