On Friday, 22 July 2016, in the morning at around 10:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 100), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH, an Audi A4 and a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Volvo (34 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
