On Wednesday, 27 July 2016, in the morning at 5:56, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 66.35), a BMW 520 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.73‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
