On Thursday, 8 September 2016, in the evening at around 21:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Kampai–Ryliškiai–Merkinė regional road (kilometre 6.80), an Audi A6 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Audi (20 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.48‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
