On Saturday, 8 October 2016, in the afternoon at 16:42, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Širvintos–Rimučiai–Kernavė–Dūkštos national road (kilometre 16.30), a Peugeot 406 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.19‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
