On Tuesday, 25 October 2016, in the afternoon at 16:34, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 42.30), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH12.420 registered in Poland, an Opel Astra Station Wagon registered in Latvia, an Iveco AS440S42 registered in Poland, a Krone SD registered in Latvia and a Krone SDP22 registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Volvo (15 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
