On Tuesday, 8 November 2016, in the morning at around 9:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Stirpeikų village, on the Pėžaičiai–Švėkšna regional road (kilometre 9.38), a Volkswagen Lupo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 28-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (33 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to keep a safe distance.
