On Sunday, 4 December 2016, at night at around 1:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Klaipėda–Veiviržėnai–Endriejavas regional road, a BMW X5 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.16‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
