On Friday, 23 December 2016, in the afternoon at 16:20, in Druskininkų municipality, on M. K. Čiurlionio street near No. 50, a Skoda Superb hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Skoda (12 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.79‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. A 41-year-old pedestrian was drunk (1.68‰). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
