On Sunday, 26 February 2017, in the morning at 9:12, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 9.80), a BMW rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.58‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was overcast, there was freezing rain, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
