On Monday, 26 June 2017, in the evening at 17:51, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys national road (kilometre 52.40), an Audi A4 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Audi (24 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.47‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
