On Friday, 14 July 2017, in the afternoon at 15:28, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 55.10), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 and an Audi A4 Avant. Two people died — a 47-year-old passenger of the Audi A4 and a 53-year-old passenger of the Audi A4. Two people were injured — the 21-year-old driver of the Audi A4 (treated as an outpatient) and the 22-year-old driver of the Audi A4 Avant (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Audi A4 (3 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
