On Friday, 11 August 2017, in the morning at around 9:00, in Kaunas, on Raudondvario pl. near No. 284A, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 60-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (57 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
