On Sunday, 27 August 2017, at night at 1:41, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 101.09), a BMW X5 rolled over. Two people died — the 33-year-old driver of the BMW and a 33-year-old passenger of the BMW. One person was injured — a 45-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 45-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (2.89‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
