On Saturday, 9 September 2017, in the afternoon at 13:15, in Šilalės district municipality, Katyčių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 226.55), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Lexus GS 300 registered in Russia, a DAF FT CF85.430 and a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t. Three people were injured — the 29-year-old driver of the Lexus (treated as an outpatient), a 24-year-old passenger of the Lexus (hospitalized) and a 29-year-old passenger of the Lexus (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Lexus (8 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
