On Friday, 6 October 2017, in the afternoon at 15:15, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 5.85), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and an Opel Corsa. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (35 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.82‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet.
