On Thursday, 2 November 2017, in the evening at 18:30, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 11.48), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 Avant and a bicycle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Audi (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
