On Friday, 17 November 2017, in the evening at 20:16, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 115.50), a Mazda 323 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Mazda (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
