On Sunday, 19 November 2017, in the afternoon at 12:35, in Rietavo municipality, Pajomančio village, on the Kryžkalnis–Rietavas–Vėžaičiai national road (kilometre 43.45), a Renault Espace ran off the road. Two people were injured — a 5-year-old passenger of the Renault (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt, was not in a child seat) and a 3-year-old passenger of the Renault (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt, was not in a child seat). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. A 34-year-old passenger of the Renault was drunk (2.42‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
