On Friday, 8 December 2017, in the evening at 22:05, in Pasvalio district municipality, Šakarnių village, on Ąžuolų street near No. 8, a Rover 25 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Rover, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.18‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 18-year-old passenger of the Rover was drunk (2.51‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
