On Sunday, 31 December 2017, in the morning at 6:10, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 293.90), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi A3 and an Opel Zafira. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.77‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
